One thing I’ve learned over the years: makeup is worth spending money on. I’ve also learned that I enjoy trying new makeup and switching up my beauty routine, but there are of course products that I find I’m consistently loyal to. I tend to lean toward more of a natural look when it comes to my makeup with the exception of being a huge sucker for a dark lip.
I’m currently using this liquid foundation by Bobbi Brown, but my favorite foundation has always been bareMinerals Original Foundation. My face has always been a little on the oily side, so a mineral-based foundation seems best to prevent the unwanted shine that’s inevitable with Houston’s humidity. However, if you prefer liquid foundation, Bobbi Brown’s Skin Foundation Cushion-Compact gives that weightless feel while still providing good coverage.
I can’t go without this NARS under the eye concealer. I have yet to try another brand because I can’t imagine anything better. It covers my dark circles and illuminates the area under my eyes. It works well with this highlighting powder, another must-have of mine. I often use it in place of blush during the work week, and it leaves a natural yet shimmering glow on my cheekbones. Marc Jacob’s Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara is next on my list.
If I could only have one makeup product for the rest of my life, it would be lipstick. This past summer I tried a few bright pinks and a bright orange, but there’s nothing I love more than a dark lip. Deep reds, purples, browns… all the moody colors. Bordeaux is my absolute favorite lipstick color. Unfortunately, it was from Bobbi Brown’s Scotch on the Rocks Limited Edition collection and I haven’t seen it since. Hindsight says I should have bought 30 of them when I had the chance.
My makeup bag is from World Market. My last makeup bag seemed like a black hole. This one is perfect. It’s big enough to fit everything I need, but small enough that I can easily find what I’m looking for.
What’s in your makeup bag? I’d love to know your must-haves!
